Configuring Automatic Service Recovery for DBS-Based Services
This section describes the method CygNet Software recommends for Automatic Service Recovery for DBS-based Services (ACS, APPS, AUD, BSS, DDS, ELS, ELSALM, FAC, GNS, GRP, MSS, PNT, and TRS).
This method consists of a single stage using the Restart action and a Minimum Runtime of 10 minutes.
The Restart-only action should be applied to DBS-based services because the data storage technology (Microsoft ESE) has a built-in crash recovery mechanism that guarantees data integrity and consistency in the event of a system crash. ESE employs a transaction logging process that ensures a database can be brought to a logically consistent state after an unexpected process termination or system shutdown. See Data Storage for DBS-Based Services for more information about ESE, transaction log files and crash recovery.
If the service fails, the following process takes place:
- Restart of the service is attempted.
- If the service runs for 10 minutes, the recovery is considered good.
